VOCATIONAL HORTICULTURE TRAINING COURSE FOR UNEMPLOYED YOUTH AT PAU

LUDHIANA, MARCH 21:-----



A vocational training course on \'Care of fruit plants and nursery production\' was organized for unemployed youth belonging to scheduled castes at PAU Department of Horticulture. The PAU Registrar, Dr. R.K.Mahey was the Chief Guest in the concluding session. After distributing certificates to the trainees, Dr. Mahey said that horticulture has many benefits that include employment generation, environment improvement, diversification in agriculture, nutritional security, etc. He said that the trained youth can take up nursery production as their livelihood venture. The Head of the Department, Dr. P.S.Aulakh said that the hands on training imparted to the participants will help them to take on to horticulture and nursery production for employment. Dr. Harminder Singh, Coordinator of the programme said that 50 participants from different parts of Punjab were trained on the techniques of producing nursery plants. He said that the trainees were provided boarding and lodging free of cost and were also paid stipend during the course. Dr. Parampal Singh Gill thanked the Chief Guest, experts and participants.
