LUDHIANA, March 26:
Ludhiana MP and the national spokesperson of the Indian National Congress Manish Tewari today lashed out at the Akali-BJP government in the state for its failure to properly utilize hundreds of crores of rupees that have been coming from the central for the development works.
Addressing a series of meeting in the Jagaraon assembly segment today, where he also distributed cheques for the grants amounting to Rs 25 lakhs, Tewari said, this government was either not able to utilize the central grants or was not using these properly.
He maintained that the central government was allocating hundreds and hundreds of crores of rupees to each and every state. But the Punjab government had not the ability to utilize these grants. He revealed that hundreds of crores of rupees were lying unutilized since the government was unable to provide the matching grants.
Ludhiana MP said, this government seems to have resigned to its fate that it was getting defeated in the next elections. Otherwise why should it not perform. He pointed out, the government has not been taking any initiative to retrieve the debt situation which is threatening to push the state to bankruptcy.
Tewari said, the Akali-BJP government is now totally demoralized particularly after the mammoth rally the congress held at Khatkar Kalan while the government could not manage even the half the numbers present in the Congress rally.
Those present on the occasion included PPCC Gen Secy Pawan Dewan, Major Singh Bhaini, Raman Kumar Subramanium, DYC President Lakhbir Singh Lakha, Jagjit Singh Kaunke, Atma Singh, Tejinder Nanny, Kaka Grewal, Inderjit Jhanji, Manpreet Kaur Dhaliwal and others.
