SAFETY NORMS SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED STRICTLY IN INDIA – DR WARAICH

LUDHIANA, MARCH 11(Anmol Singh)

The Punjab Chapter of Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE) organized a seminar on 'Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Legislation in Ontario, Canada" today at the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAE&T), PAU. The event involved the participation of 50 students including the members of the faculty of PAU.

Delivering a lecture, Dr Tarlochan Singh Waraich, Occupational Health and Safety Inspector, Industrial Health and Safety Programme, Ministry of Labour, Windsor District Office, Canada, shed light on the implementation of safety laws. Making reference to the safety laws and its implementation in public administration in Canada, he said that with the proper implementation of these provisions, the number of accidents on the roads in industrial work places has come down. Dr Waraich emphasized that the safety norms should be implemented strictly in India to reduce the number of accidents and stressed on the need for better working environment for the workers.

Dr PPS Lubana, Dean, COAE&T and patron of Punjab Chapter of ISAE presiding over the seminar also dwelt on the work environment and safety aspects. He appreciated the efforts of Dr CJS Pannu, Chairman, Punjab Chapter of ISAE and Coordinator of Research (Engineering) and Er. NK Chhuneja, Secretary of Punjab Chapter of ISAE, in organizing this seminar for it holds great relevance in daily life.
