PUNJAB AGRICUL TURAL UNIVERSITY PAU KISAN MELA AT RAUNI (PATIALA) ON MARCH 8

The first in the series of six Kisan Melas of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will be held on March 8 at Rauni (Patiala). Giving an overview, Dr M.S.Gill, Director of Extension Education, PAU, said that the theme of the mela will be "Raise standard of living through innovative farming." To be inaugurated by the chief guest S. Surjit Singh Rakhra, Chairman, District Yojna Board, Patiala, at 10.30 a.m., the mela will provide the opportunity to the farmers and farm women to update themselves with the in-depth knowledge about the progressive farming. Dr Gill informed that Deepinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Patiala, will be the guest of honour while Dr Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, will preside over the fair. On this occasion, an exhibition showcasing latest techniques and technologies designed by PAU will apprise the participating farmers with the scientific know-how of farming. He further added that an interactive session will take place where all the farm queries will be responded by the experts.

Meanwhile, the other five kisan melas scheduled for March will be held at following places - Regional Kisan Mela at Faridkot on March 10, followed by that at Ballowal Saunkhri (near Balachaur) on March 11, Regional Kisan Mela at Bathinda on March 14, Kisan Mela at PAU Campus, Ludhiana on March 17-18 and Regional Kisan Mela at Gurdaspur on March 22.
