The Post Graduate Department of Punjabi Govt. College for Women, Ldh. organized its annual literary society here today. Dr. Mrs. Sarabjot Kaur, Head of the dept. welcomed the chief guest Mrs. Gurminder Kaur, Principal of the college. Mrs. Paramjit Kaur was the stage secretary. Formal lecturers of the dept. Mrs. Surinder Kaur Shikha and Dr. Rameshinder Kaur Bal were given the 'Gyani Ditt Singh Memorial Award' for their contribution to Punjabi literature and language. This award is given annually in the memory of Gyani Ditt Singh, first teacher of Punjabi. The students presented a cultural extravaganza showcasing the culture of Punjab. A one act play 'Duja Vyaah' written by Sant Singh Sekhon was also staged on this occasion. In order to encourage the students, prizes were given away for participating and excelling in various literary activities of the dept. like essay writing, poetry writing, story writing, folk song, calligraphy and participating in activities of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle.
Speaking on this occasion Principal Mrs. Gurminder Kaur highlighted the contribution of these teachers to Punjabi Literature and Language during their tenures as lecturers and principals of various colleges. The literature of any society is important for their development. So, we should study the Punjabi literature very deeply because from the time of Shiri Guru Nanak Dev Ji , the Punjabi literature particularly Gurbani is very important for our moral development. Mrs. Surinder Kaur Shikha and Dr. Rameshinder Kaur Bal also shared their experiences and views with the students.

Prof. Jaswant Singh, Mrs. Gurvinder Kaur, Miss Nirmaljeet Kaur, Mrs. Uttamdeep, Mrs. Paramjit Kaur, Ms. Harpeet Kaur, Mrs. Kiranjeet Brar, Dr. Mohinder Kaur Grewal, Mrs. G. Mohinder Singh, Mrs. Harminder Kaur Grewal, Er. Lakhdev Singh also graced the function.
