PAU BOARD APPROVES VARSITY BUDGET ESTIMATES FOR 2011-12

LUDHIANA, MARCH 31:



The budget estimates of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for the year 2011-12 were approved at rupees 392.11 crore during the 247th meeting of the Board of Management, held yesterday in Chandigarh. Of this 62.34%, 18.28%, 11.26% and 8.12% budget was allocated for research, teaching and extension, and general administration, respectively. The provision of 88.25%, 0.44% and 11.31% is for salaries and allowances, traveling allowances, and contingencies & wages, respectively. The PAU Registrar, Dr. Raj Kumar Mahey said that the last year\'s allocation break up of the budget for research, teaching, extension and general administration was 63.41, 18.47, 10.12 and 8.00%, respectively.



The PAU Comptroller A.C.Rana informed that the previous budget (2010-11) was approved for 390 schemes while the present budget (2011-12) has been approved for 392 schemes including 123 non-plan agriculture schemes/plan agricultural schemes, 87 ICAR/NAIP projects and central assistance, 37 revolving fund schemes, 43 centrally sponsored schemes, 56 miscellaneous schemes, and 1 UGC schemes. 45.15% of the total budget is for state non-plan agriculture schemes, said he and added that the budget has 14.80% from ICAR/NAIP projects and central assistance, 2.79 % from Government of India (centrally sponsored), 0.01% from UGC projects and 0.93% from miscellaneous schemes.
