A 5-days 'Basic beekeeping training course' has been organized by PAU Department of Entomology for schedule caste and schedule tribe farmers and farm women of Punjab from March 21-25. According to Dr Ashok Kumar Dhawan, Head of the Department the course has been organized under RSVY wherein the trainees will be reimbursed their to and fro fare and will be provided free loading and boarding in the university. Besides, the trainees will also be provided free literature on beekeping. The PAU is instrumental in dissemination of scientific technologies in beekeeping to the various stakeholders through organizing different level trainings, including even for the scientists of other SAUs and ICAR institutes, he said adding that the PAU efforts have made the Punjab to lead the country in apiary honey production and to make it a hub of beekeeping in the country. Dr Pardeep Kumar Chhuneja, Technical Coordinator of the course said that 27 trainees from various districts of the State are participating in the training in which they will be imparted both theoretical and practical training on various aspects of beekeeping.
