Govt studying Shunglu committee report, says Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi, March 25, 2011

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her government was studying the Shunglu Committee report which looked into city infrastructure projects for the Commonwealth Games.

"We are studying the report and will react after that," Ms. Dikshit said when asked about her being named in the report for irregularities in Commonwealth Games works.

The panel's third report 'City Infrastructure' on alleged financial and managerial discrepancies on several contracts executed by various agencies is being examined by the PMO, the officials said.

Shunglu Committee has reportedly indicted Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna and Ms. Dikshit, among others, for delays and losses in projects.

The panel submitted two reports - one on the Games Village and the other on city's infrastructure development for the sports event - that nails the role of Delhi government, its agencies and central agencies.

The committee was appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in October last year, just after the completion of the mega event, to probe allegations of corruption, misappropriation of funds, irregularities and weaknesses in management of the Games.
