France's army chief of staff, Adm. Edouard Guillaud, said on Friday a warplane destroyed an artillery battery.
Officials say French and British warplanes attacked Libyan targets overnight near the town of Ajdabiya as part of coordinated strikes against Muammar Qadhafi's forces.
France's army chief of staff, Adm. Edouard Guillaud, said on Friday a warplane destroyed an artillery battery.
British Defence Secretary Liam Fox says British Tornado GR4 Aircraft launched a number of guided missiles at Libyan armoured vehicles.
Ajdabiya has been under siege for more than a week, with the rebels holding the city centre under shelling from government troops positioned on the outskirts.
Adm. Guillard also says French forces destroyed a military base, a munitions depot and maintenance facilities on Thursday in Libya's interior. He says on France—Info radio that "airspace is under control."
