Faculty of Business Management PU approves Industry and skills oriented programmes

Faculty of Business Management and Commerce Panjab University Chandigarh which metyesterday under the chairmanship of the Dean Faculty of Business Management and Commerce Dr. Deepak Kapur has approved curriculum of many programmes to started in the colleges from the next academic year which are not only industry oriented but will also sharpen the skill of the Students to make them employable. Secretary of the Faculty Dr. Ashwani Bhalla told that faculty has approved three new programmes under the stream of Hospitality and Hotel administration which will initially be started at SCD Government College Ludhiana under the guidance of National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology. These programmes include: Diploma in Food Production (DFP), Diploma in Bakery and Confectionary (DBC) and Diploma in Food and Beverages (DFB). Apart from the Faculty also approved the course structure of new industry oriented Programme M.Com Business Innovations to be started at SCD Government College Ludhiana with the intake of 40 seats and gave its nod for the outlines of tests, syllabi and courses of reading along with the rules/regulations for the above said course to be effective from the admission of 2011. The admission to M.Com Business Innovations will be made through an entrance test to be conducted by Panjab University Chandigarh. The dean of the faculty was authorized to take necessary action with regard to Modalities of the Entrance test. . Senior Member of the Faculty and Senator/Syndic of Panjab University Chandigarh and Dean Faculty of Law Advocate G.K. Chatrath informed the house that from the next academic session Panjab University will be starting integrated programme of B.Com LL.B for which he sought the help of Faculty of Business Management and Commerce in carving out the new syllabus and structure.

The Faculty also decided that from the next academic session the Programmes of MFC/M.Com run by University School of Open learning under distance education programme will be operative under semester system for which rules/regulations and syllabus were also approved . The faculty members reiterated that in wake of the change in the syllabus of the undergraduate and post graduate classes training programmes for the commerce and management teachers be organized at the university level. For this purpose faculty approved to organize two faculty Development Programmes (FDP) of seven days duration each one for Ludhiana Zone teachers and one for Chandigarh Zone teachers. Faculty members also authorize the dean of Faculty of Business Management and Commerce to expedite the process of implementing the Semester system in Bachelor of Commerce (General), Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) and Bachelor of Business Administration with effect from 2011 for which the faculty has already approved the syllabus in its previous meeting . The Faculty also elected its new members of the Post Graduate and Under graduate Board of Studies in commerce for the term April 1st 2011 to March 31st 2013. The Elected Members of Post graduate Board in commerce are, Shri Ajay Sharma, Sh. Ashok Singla, Dr. Ashwani Kumar Bhalla, Sh Gursharanjit Singh and Sh. Rajesh Marwaha. The elected members of Under graduate board of Commerce are, Dr. Kamal Kumar Sharma, Ms Kanwalpreet , Sh. Naveen Pandhi, Dr. Pardeep Singh Walia, Ms Rakhi J Singh and Sh. Sanjeev Kumar.
