Two TDP members on Monday stalled the proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on the Telangana issue, forcing its abrupt adjournment for the day.
The house was initially adjourned twice as TDP member Nagam Janardhan Reddy stood alone in the Well of House, raising slogans on Telangana.
When the house re-assembled, another TDP member Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy joined Mr. Nagam in the protest, leading to the third adjournment for half-an-hour.
As TDP MLAs persisted with their protest after the House re-assembled, Deputy Speaker N. Manohar adjourned the House for the day.
Earlier in the day, TDP MLAs from Telangana cornered Mr. Nagam, also the Telugu Desam Telangana Forum convenor, inside the Assembly, leaving their party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu embarrassed and other members amused.
Simmering acrimony within the Forum over the Mr. Nagam's functioning surfaced when members M. Narasimhulu, Kothakota Dayakar Reddy and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah lashed out at him, even as he raised pro-Statehood slogans in the Well of the House all alone.
After boycotting the Assembly last week, demanding that the Centre immediately table a Bill in Parliament for creation of a separate State, TDP Telangana MLAs decided to attend the ongoing Budget session from today.
Mr. Nagam reached the House early and initially raised the slogans from his seat. He then reached the Well of the House holding a placard and raised the slogan all alone.
The Deputy Speaker adjourned the House first for ten minutes after Mr. Nagam refused to yield to his pleas to resume the seat. The House took up Question Hour after it re-assembled while Mr. Nagam continued to raise slogans at the Well.
Later, Mr. Nagam turned to all sides and made certain remarks, prompting criticisms from his colleagues Venkata Veeraiah and Dayakar Reddy.
Party's deputy leader M. Narasimhulu, who just entered the House, shouted at Mr. Nagam even as Mr. Manohar asked the members to observe restraint.
With the Telangana TDP MLAs were squabbling among themselves, the Deputy Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes for the second time.
