Students should select their career as per their choice and competence-Rahul Tiwari

Students of present generation should select their career as per their choice and competence and strive to achieve excellence in their profession, this was stated by Sh. Rahul Tiwari, Deputy commissioner of Ludhiana who inaugurated the 91st Annual athletic meet of the SCD Government College Ludhiana. He said he aspires to become an actor but become an IAS officer. He said when one select his/her career as per their aspirations then he/she can achieve excellence. The 91st Athletic meet of the SCD Government College Ludhiana started with colourful march-past by the athletes and sports persons of the college. In two days athletic meet around 2000 students are participating in 30 events . The march past was led by Mr Shamsher Singh an international Soft ball player who lead Indian team in the Asian Junior softball championship held at Mumbai and Indian team got won bronze medal. . Students took the oath in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner to participate in the games with discipline and dignity. . Principal of the College Mrs Jasbir Kaur Makkar welcome the deputy commissioner in the campus and spell out the achievements of the college in the field of sports. She said that recently college organised a A Division and B Division Cricket tournament of the Panjab University Chandigarh. Seventeen teams of the college participated in the different intercollegiate and inter university competion. The head of the department of Physical education Prof. D.s. Chahal said that 35 players of this college participated in the different interuniversity tournaments and 25 players of different games participated in the junior and senior national tournaments and championships in sports disciplines. He further told Gitansh Khehra of B.Com-II of this college represented Punjab in Ranji Trophy tournament as well as Katoch shield tournament. Rajan sharma a basket ball player of the college represent Junior Asia FIBa basket ball tournament held at SENA . Komal Preet participated in the Junior National Basket Ball Championship held at Mumbai. Three students of this college won Gold Medal in Junior National Championship held at Ranchi. In the first day following events of both men and women were held. 800 Hundred meters race, 100 meter race for both men and women, hammer throw , javelin throw, long jump, discuss throw and shot-put. In the 800 hundred meters Men's race Mandeep singh of B.A-II got first position by completing the race in 2.1838 minutes , Surinder Singh of B.A-II got second position by completing the race in 2.2040 minutes and Amandeep Singh of B.A-II got third position by completing the race in 2.25 minutes.
