Space age minimally invasive key hole surgery for a common disorder

Management Association organized a lecture on "Space age minimally invasive key hole surgery for a common disorder" at Hotel Majestic Park Plaza on 8th Feb 2011. Dr. Jean-Francois UHL M.D, Vascular Surgeon,Paris(France) &Vice President French Society Of Phlebology, and Dr. James Theodore (Ted) King, M.D, National Medical Director, Vein Clinics of America were the speakers on the occasion. Dr. K.N.S.Kang General secretary, LMA, Mr. Mahesh Munjal, Ex-President LMA, Mr. J.R.Singhal, Sr. Vice President, LMA, Eminent Doctors, Members of Association were present on the occasion.

Dr. Jean-Francois while discussing about the varicose veins said, "Varicose veins are more common in women than in men, and are linked with heredity. Other related factors are pregnancy, obesity, menopause, aging, prolonged standing, leg injury, abdominal straining, and crossing legs at the knees or ankles. Less commonly, but not exceptionally, varicose veins can be due to other causes, as post phlebitic obstruction and/or incontinence, venous and arteriovenous malformations.

Dr. James Theodore (Ted) King while discussing about the safety measures for varicose veins said, "Elevating the legs often provides temporary symptomatic relief. The wearing of graduated compression stockings with variable pressure gradients can help to correct the swelling, nutritional exchange, and improve the microcirculation in legs affected by varicose veins. They also often provide relief from the discomfort associated with this disease. Caution should be exercised in their use in patients with concurrent arterial disease.

Dr K.N.S.Kang, General Secretary, LMA, informed that The Chronic venous disease has a high prevalence worldwide. People had very less awareness regarding the disease and it's Treatment. He said that this lecture will help physicians, doctors and patients in having better understanding about the disease and its treatment.

Mr. Mahesh Munjal while giving his presidential remarks, said, "This lecture has helped to create awareness about the problems of varicose veins which is very much prevalent among the population in India and U.S.A." He further stated that the laser treatment for varicose veins is available in India and in Ludhiana, it is present at CMC. Mr. J.R.Singhal gave the vote of thanks.
