Rajasthan\'s rural development minister Amin Khan has submitted his resignation after his derogatory comments on President Pratibha Patil triggered controversy.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot asked him to resign for making controversial comments on President Pratibha Singh Patil.

Amin Khan while addressing party workers in Pali on Wednesday had said that Pratibha Patil has been rewarded with the office of President in return of cooking and cleaning utensils for former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi

Congress President Sonia Gandhi taking serious note of his remarks, had instructed the Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to ask for Amin's resignation.

Pratibha Patil\'s husband Devi Singh had expressed shock over the remarks and had said that Congress leadership should take a call on this.

Meanwhile, Amin Khan clarified his stand after the remarks created uproar.

He said that this should be considered as his mistake as he did not have any intentions to hurt the President.

\"I was just trying to advise disgruntled Congress workers to work selflessly and be faithful and committed like Patil,\" Khan added.
