PAU TO HOLD XIX BIENNIAL HOME SCIENCE WORKSHOP

LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 11:-----



The College of Home Science, Punjab Agricultural University is organizing XIX Biennial Workshop of All India Coordinated Research Project on Home Science on February 16-17 under the aegis of Directorate of Research on Women in Agriculture (ICAR) Bhubaneswar. The PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Manjit Singh Kang will preside over the inaugural function.



Dr.Neelam Grewal, Dean, College of Home Science and Convener of the Workshop, while elaborating upon the details of workshop informed that the empowerment of women has been recognized globally as the key element to achieve holistic development of the families and thus the nation. Therefore, the workshop will be geared towards formulating the action plan in all the areas of Home Science for knowledge and skill empowerment of rural women, she said. There will be five plenary sessions during the workshop in which deliberations will be held on the related research areas of Food & Nutrition, Human Development, Clothing & Textiles and Home Science Extension Education. These deliberations will prove helpful in carrying out researches in all related areas of Home Science in the country to improve the quality of living and raise the development index of the country. According to Dr.Grewal, more than hundred Home Scientists from all over the country are expected to participate in the workshop. Eminent scientists who will share their vision and experiences with the participants include Dr.K.D.Kokate, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), New Delhi, Dr.R.C.Maheshwari, Vice-Chancellor, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Dr.Krishna Srinath, Director, Directorate of Research on Women in Agriculture (ICAR) Bhubaneswar, Dr.V.V.Subramanian, Assistant Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR and Dr.S.S.Gosal, Director of Research, PAU.
