PAU TO HOLD SIX KISAN MELAS IN MARCH

LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 9:(GurZent Singh Saggu)

Punjab Agricultural University will be holding six Kisan Melas in the month of March. The Director of Extension Education, Dr. M.S.Gill has informed that the series will start with the Regional Kisan Mela at Rauni (Patiala) on March 8 and will be followed by Regional Kisan Mela at Faridkot on March 10, at Ballowal Saunkhri (near Balachaur) on March 11, Regional Kisan Mela at Bathinda on March 14, Kisan Mela at PAU Campus, Ludhiana on March 17-18 and Regional Kisan Mela at Gurdaspur on March 22. The Melas will be the occasions for the farmers and farm women to learn about the new technologies for scientific crop production, crop protection, post harvest handling, etc. and to interact with the experts. The farmers visiting these melas will be able to address their queries to experts in the question answer session. The latest exhibitions and technical stalls put up on the occasion will apprise the farmers about the new technologies. The farm women will find educative stalls about house keeping, child rearing and to know about reducing drudgeries in various activities. The melas will provide the participating farmers and farm women with latest know-how about progressive farming and to purchase planting material, farm literature, etc., said Earlier, PAU used to hold five Kisan Melas in March but this time arrangements have been made to organize additional Kisan Mela at Faridkot to cater to the needs of the farmers of the area. Dr. Gill while appealing farmers and farm women to participate in these Kisan Melas in large numbers.
