PAU ORGANISES VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMME

LUDHIANA,

To equip scheduled caste candidates with employment oriented skills in nursery fruit production, a vocation training programme has been organized at PAU Fruit Research Station, Gangian (Dasuya, Hoshiarpur), informed Dr PS Aulakh, Head, Department of Horticulture, PAU. The programme, involving the participation of 40 trainees, kicked off yesterday and would continue till February 25. Dr Aulakh stated that since the demand of quality nursery fruit plants and skilled labour is escalating day by day due to diversification from traditional crops toward fruit crops, therefore, this training programme has been organized in Kandi area of Punjab. Another training course will be held at PAU Regional Research Station, Abohar, from March 7 -18, added he.

Dr Harminder Singh and Dr Nav Prem Singh, Course Coordinators, said that the unemployed youth would be given practical training on various aspects of nursery production, propagation techniques and orchard management. To give exposure, the trainees would visit PAU and other modern nurseries also.
