PAU HOLDING RESEARCH AND EXTENSION SPECIALISTS\' WORKSHOP FOR KHARIF CROPS ON FEBRUARY 14-15

LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 11:-----



The Research and Extension Specialists Workshop for Kharif crops will be held at PAU on February 14-15. Giving details, the Director of Extension Education, Dr. M.S. Gill said that in this workshop the officers and field functionaries of state Department of Agriculture will participate to discuss package of practices for Kharif crops. Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU will inaugurate the event on February 14 at 10.00 a.m. The Director of Agriculture, Punjab, Er. B.S.Sidhu will highlight earmarked targets of different crops and problems in Punjab agriculture. Dr. S.S.Gosal, Director of Research will present salient findings in research on Kharif crops. The package of practices for rice, maize, pulses, bajra, oilseeds, cotton, sugarcane, forage and millets, etc. will be discussed by PAU experts. The subject matter specialists of PAU will discuss new crops (turmeric), improved agricultural implements and present cost-benefit prospects of Kharif crops. The participants will be taken on a visit to experimental areas. There will be an exhibition on the latest technologies developed and the newly published farm literature for the ensuing Kharif crops. Dr. Gill said that the workshop will provide opportunity to gather feedback from the field level functionaries for re-orienting research and technology transfer programmes to make them need-based.
