PAU FARMERS TRAINING PROGRAMME ON MICRO IRRIGATION

LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 11:-----



The Precision Farming Development Centre (PFDC), Department of Soil and Water Engineering, PAU, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kapurthala organized a training programme for the farmers on \'Micro Irrigation\' on 9th February. The district level officers of the Department of Soil and Water Conservation, Punjab participated in the training programme.

Dr. Rakesh Sharda, Principal Investigator of the PFDC said that the center regularly organizes one day training programmes on micro irrigation and protected cultivation for the farmers at KVKs in different districts of Punjab. He said that more than 60 farmers attended the training on micro irrigation. The farmers were provided know how about the micro irrigation technologies and as to how their use can enhance farm income. The farmers were explained how they can apply fertilizers efficiently with the help of drip irrigation. The farmers were also updated about the subsidies provided by the Punjab Government for micro irrigation. He said that during the current year the centre organized 15 training programmes of one to two day duration at KVKs and PAU campus, for the officers of the state government and farmers. Dr. Manoj Sharma, Deputy Director KVK Kapurthala, welcomed the experts and the participants.
