Orissa mediators hold talks with Maoist leader in jail

Bhubaneswar, February 22, 2011



Top Maoist leader Gandi Prasad has asked the negotiators to prepare a roadmap for withdrawal of false cases charged against adivasis across the state linking them to Maoist activities.



According to sources, the negotiators for the release of the abducted Malkangiri district collector R. V. Krishna had made a crucial step forward by holding dialogue with Maoist leader Gandi Prasad in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.



He also asked the negotiators to get back with the government stand on demand for withdrawing cases against Sri Ramalu Srinivas, the top Maoist leader detained at Malkangiri jail. The state-appointed interlocutors professor G. Hargopal and Dandapani Mohanty met him at the high security jail at Jharpada
