A multi-speciality hospital and a medical college will be constructed on the railway land lying vacant in Nirala Nagar locality of the city. Railway minister Mamata Banerjee stated this in a letter to Union minister of coal Sriprakash Jaiswal.
Banerjee has mentioned in her letter that 20 acres of railway land has been earmarked for a multi-speciality hospital. An MoU was signed between the railways and health and family welfare ministries in this regard. The railway ministry will provide the land and the healthcare infrastructure will be developed by health ministry.
Jaiswal had been making efforts that the vacant railway land should be put to use.
