Bangladesh Government also backing Paresh Baruah fraction

New Delhi, February 07, 2011

The Paresh Baruah fraction of ULFA has declared the General Council meeting held by the Arabinda Rajkhowa and all other Central Committee memberss of the outfit as invalid and against the constitution of the organization. In a fresh press release sent by self-claimed Publicity Commander(!), ULFA of the Paresh Baruah fraction Arunodoy Dohotiya has declared three decisions taken by the Paresh Baruah led group in a meeting held on 5th February in the outfit's underground headquarters. The first decision is that the General Council meeting held by the leaders released in bail was deemed as invalid, the second one was a decision not to support the political dialogue initiated by Arabinda Rajkhowa led fraction to hold talks with Government of India. In the third point, Dohotiya has criticized Mithinga Daimary's declaration that Dohotiya was not authorized to be the publicity head of ULFA. Claiming that he was officially bestowed the rights of acting as the spokesperson by the outfit on 23rd September 2010, the press release declared that Dohotiya would continue to speak and publish their views to the people.

Tracing the email, Times of Assam has found evidence that the email was sent from Mirpur in Bangladesh using a Internet Service Provided by Bangladesh Telephone & Telegraph Board. This has compelled to question whether Bangladesh Government is acting just like Pakistan does with India, regarding the issue of Kashmir. On one hand when Bangladesh government could arrest and deport some ULFA leaders and their families to India, it is strange that the same authority is silent with the leaders or families of the Paresh Baruah fraction (including Paresh Baruah and Anup Chetia's families) who are against talks with the Indian Government. With several emails of the anti-talks fraction traced from Bangladesh, it is evident that the Paresh Baruah fraction is still at large in the neighboring country and enjoying enough freedom. It is clear that Bangladesh Government is only acting hypocrites here,- at one end they act Pro-India by capturing few militants and other end still continue to aid the tough ones who continues to stand against India. It's high time, Indian authorities as well the civil societies of Assam makes a note of this.
