ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET BEGINS of Guru Nanak Girls College

On 11th February, 2011(Anmol Singh Saggu)

students of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana presented a colorful start on the occasion of Annual Athletic Meet. S. Satpal Singh, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana inaugurated the two day meet in which students of all streams participated with enthusiasm and great zeal. S. Gurbir Singh, President, Guru Nanak Education Trust and Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal, welcomed the Chief Guest. S. Satpal Singh said educated women could play an important role in the development of the country. He exhorted the girls to carve a niche for themselves as they had already done in almost every field. The meet began with a March Past in which students of Degree and Post-Graduate classes participated. Ms. Ramandeep Kaur (M.A-I), University Gold Medalist, took the oath. Ms. Nainy Bala, Best Athlete of the College and also winner of Gold Medal in Athletics at State Level lit the torch. Chief Guest hoisted the College flag and declared the meet open. Colorful balloons were let off into the air to mark the opening of the sports meet. Several sports events including 800 Mtrs. Javelin Throw, 1500 Mtrs. Short-put , High Jump, 200 Mtrs., Skipping race, 400 Mtrs., Discuss Throw, Long Jump, Three legged race, clerical staff race were the main source of attraction.
