United States Price and Launch Date for Nintendo 3DS Revealed on January 19

Nintendo of America has announced that it will be holding an event on January 19 of next year in New York City, designed to answer all the questions that United States gamers have about the Nintendo 3DS, including the price tag the new handheld will have in the region and the exact release date, which is expected to be prior to April 1, 2011.

The Nintendo 3DS is revolutionary because it will allow gamers to experience full three-dimensional portable gaming without using any of the specialized and uncomfortable glasses that have been associated with the experience until now.

The initial announcement for the 3DS was made early in 2010, for fear that the Japanese gaming press was ready to show off the device before Nintendo itself talked about it.

Details arrived at the E3 trade show and in September Nintendo has revealed that the 3DS handheld was set to be launched on February 26, 2011 on the Japanese market with a price point of 25,000 Yen, which is the equivalent of 300 United States dollars.

The New York City event will be headlined by Nintendo of America President Regie Fils-Aime, who will show off the new device, and will also include gaming time with the new device.

Nintendo has talked about quite a few franchises that will arrive on the 3DS, with announced titles including: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Paper Mario, Star Fox 64 3D, Animal Crossing and Mario Kart.

Other publishers are also showing a lot of interest in the 3D capable device, talking about games like: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D - The Naked Sample, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Pro Evolution Soccer, Resident Evil Revelations, Dead or Alive 3D, Pac-Man, Dragon Ball and Ninja Gaiden.

Nintendo sees the 3DS as its best bet against the advance of the gaming capable smartphones like the iPhone and various Android devices.
