PAU NSS VOLUNTEERS ORGANISE AWARENESS RALLY AGAINST SOCIAL EVILS



LUDHIANA, DECEMBER 21:

The National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers from constituent college of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today organized a rally against social evils as a part of the ten-day NSS camp, which is currently underway at the campus. PAU Registrar Dr R.K. Mahey flagged off the awareness rally. About 350 volunteers marched from the PAU Flag Post to the Ferozepur road, Bhai Wala chowk, National road – Ghumar Mandi, College road spreading the message against social evils through slogans such as \'Say No to Drugs\', \'Denounce the Practice of Female Foeticide\', \'Smoking Is Injurious to Health\', etc. written on placards held by them.



Dr R.K. Mahey lauded the efforts of NSS volunteers in creating awareness against the menace of drugs, female foeticide, dowry, etc. which are eating into the vitals of the society. He emphasized for the need to curb the social evils which are deteriorating the ethics and morals. Calling upon the youth, he advised them not to go astray and develop a sense of social responsibility.



Dr PPS Lubana, Director Students' Welfare, stated that the rally aims to caution the people against the social evils which are luring them and putting them on the wrong track. Appreciating the rational approach of the NSS volunteers, he said that their constructive efforts would surely bear fruit in shaping the society.



Dr Daman Jeet Kaur, Programme Coordinator, NSS, who accompanied the rallyists, remarked that to give exposure to the NSS volunteers, inspirational lectures, campus beautification and cleanliness drive, poster making competitions, educational trips and interaction with social workers and experts were part of the NSS programme. The volunteers participate in social and educational programmes under the NSS slogan \'Not Me But You\', she said.
