US Senate polls: Republicans win 12 seats

New York, Nov 3: The early results of United States midterm elections projected that the Republicans will take control of the US House. The midterm election, which ended on Tuesday, Nov 2, was marked by voter anxiety over jobs and the economy.

Buzz up!The final results were not yet announced. According to US media results were declared in 18 seats and out of this Republicans won 12 seats and Democrats got 6 seats.

US media predicted that Republicans will win enough seats to get a House majority, delivering a rebuke to President Barack Obama. The party needed a net gain of at least 39 seats to control the chamber in 2011.

Alabama: Republican Robert Bentley defeats Democrat Ron Sparks.

Arkansas: Democrat Mike Beebe defeats Republican Jim Keet.

Colorado: Democrat John Hickenlooper defeats Republican Dan Maes and Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo.

Kansas: Republican Sam Brownback defeats Democrat Tom Holland.

Maryland: Democrat Martin O\'Malley defeats Republican Robert Ehrlich.

Massachusetts: Democrat Deval Patrick defeats Republican Charlie Baker, Independent Tim Cahill and Green-Rainbow Party candidate Jill Stein.

Michigan: Republican Rick Snyder defeats Democrat Virg Bernero.

Nebraska: Republican Dave Heineman defeats Democrat Mike Meister.

New Hampshire: Democrat John Lynch defeats Republican John Stephen.

New Mexico: Republican Susana Martinez defeats Democrat Diane Denish.

New York: Democrat Andrew Cuomo defeats Republican Carl Paladino.

Oklahoma: Republican Mary Fallin defeats Democrat Jari Askins.

Pennsylvania: Republican Tom Corbett defeats Democrat Dan Onorato.

South Dakota: Republican Dennis Daugaard defeats Democrat Scott Heidepriem.

Tennessee: Republican Bill Haslam defeats Democrat Mike McWherter.

Texas: Republican Rick Perry defeats Democrat Bill White.

Utah: Republican Gary Herbert defeats Democrat Peter Corroon.

Wyoming: Republican Matt Mead defeats Democrat Leslie Petersen.
