The US Secretary of Department of Agriculture, Mr. Thomas J. Vilsack in his letter to Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU has expressed thanks and appreciation of his participating in the round table discussion during the US-India Agriculture and Food Security Expo. The event was organized at St. Xavier\'s College, Mumbai, where the President of the United States of America (POTUS) visited on November 7. \'This conversation provided an excellent window into the issues and challenges facing agricultural development in India\', wrote Mr. Vilsack adding that \'Especially valuable to me were your insights on how the US and India can continue the longstanding partnership for agricultural innovation and development. Dr. Kang was the only Vice-Chancellor from India to have been invited to participate in the round table discussion, the others being Mr. Hari Bhartia, President CII, Mr. M. Srinivas Rao, President Cereal System Initiative for South Asia (CSISA), Mr. Jeffrey Armstrong, Dean Michigan State University, Mr. Namanga Ngongi, President, African Green Revolution Association (AGRA), Dr. Ashok Gulati, Director of Asia, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Ms Reema Nanavati, Director of SEWA (an NGO) and Mr. Shrikant Zameedar, a progressive farmer. Mr. Vilsack thanked Dr. Kang on behalf of US Department of Agriculture.
