INSTITUTION OF MEDAL AND SCHOLARSHIP FOR PAU STUDENTS

Punjab Agricultural University gives scholarships and medals to its students as sponsored by different individuals. Recently, a scholarship for a student of B. Sc. Agri. (Hons.) six year programme in the name of and eminent writer S. Gurdit Singh Kang has been instituted. A medal to be awarded to a student excelling in M. Sc. (Biotechnology), in the name of Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU and an eminent agricultural scientist has been instituted. For these awards, the requisite amount of rupees 10.00 lakhs (rupees five lakh each for scholarship and medal) has been deposited with the Comptroller of PAU, by S. Gurdit Singh Kang himself. S. Gurdit Singh Kang, father of Dr. Manjit Singh Kang said that the award to the students will motivate others for brilliance in their academic programmes. Earlier also, S. Kang has made donations for the cause of education especially for women of rural areas.
