CITY LOSES A YOUNG ECONOMIST

It was shocking news for all the students and faculty members of SCD

Government College Ludhiana to hear the news of sudden demise of Prof.

Vishurat Sharma an Associate professor in the department of Economics

of the college. No body was relying on this news because very charming

and dedicated teacher Prof. Sharma was having a space in the hearts of

the students and faculty. Professor Vishurat Sharma, Associate

Professor of Economics, SCD Government College Ludhiana, was a fine

human being and dedicated teacher. He died on November 10th 2010 at

the Dayanand Medical College from ailment discovered very recently. He

was a dedicated teacher and very popular among his students specially

M.A (Economics). Born in 1962 he was just 48 years of age. He never

shied away from taking on the establishment, if he felt that it was

working against academic interests and the student community. Prof.

Sharma was quite popular in the city for his academic commitment and

his zeal to deliver academic good to the students. Having the credit

of supervising the research work of many post graduate Students, he

was considered to be the young economist with innovative ideas and

strong bonding with the students. A condolence meeting was held in the

college campus in which faculty members and thousands of students

assembled to pay homage to their loving teacher. His fellow colleagues

and students describe his death as a big loss to the academic world.

The family, friends and well-wishers also paid their tribute to him at

his Kitchlu Nagar Residence . He is survived by his wife who is also a

teacher at School Education department of Government of Punjab , and

two daughters.
