Ludhiana MP and national spokesperson of the Indian National Congress Manish Tewari today said, the women need to be equal participants in decision making and the nation building. Addressing the annual day celebrations at the Arya College here today, Tewari said, as long as the women do not get proper representation and participation full gender justice is definitely difficult to achieve.
The MP maintained that Severe and stringent punishment had failed to act as a strong deterrent against crime against woman. Making a strong case for gender equity Tewari said, the mindsets need to be changed. He pointed out, \"even in twenty-first century most of the women\'s career revolves around their marriage\". He said, while marriage is important their career must also not suffer. Speaking on the occasion the Principal of the college, TL Joshi thanked Tewari for encouraging the students. He also listed the achievements of the college.
Tewari also announced a grant of Rs. 10 lakhs to be given over a period of 2 financial years to the college from his MP's Local Area Development Fund. President of the managing committee Ashok Prohoti also thanked the guests. Mr Tewari accompanied on the occasion included PPCC Gen Secy Pawan Dewan, Councillor Raju Thapar, Anil Malhotra, Sushil Malhotra, Varun Vehta & others.
