21st century is century of knowledge : Tewari

LUDHIANA, November 13: Ludhiana MP and the national spokesperson of the Indian National Congress Manish Tewari today said, the twenty first century was going to be the century of knowledge. He said, knowledge has always played an important role in the development of mankind civilization and in this time it has become all the more important.

Addressing the annual day function at the RS Model School here today, Tewari exhorted upon the students to ensure that they develop the knowledge according to the modern needs, he said, it was important that they were better position to compete in the modern world.

The national spokesperson said, keeping in view the importance of education the Congress led United Progressive Alliance government at the centre introduced the law for Right to Education which will ensure that all the children get right and proper education.

Tewari also inaugurated the computer lab in the school. The lab has been set up with the Rs two lakh grant provided by him from his MP's Local Area Development Fund. He said, he had always given preference to education and health while distributing grants from his MPLAD fund.

The MP also presented awards to the 172 students who had shown outstanding performance in various fields.

Prominent among those present included the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) chairman Dr Dalbir Singh Dhillon, Pawan Dewan, school committee president Mahatama Satyanand Munjal, Rajinder Syal, Capt Vijay Syal, Principal ML Kalra, Vinod Sahgal, Mangat Ram Mehta, Sudhir Syal, Sushil Malhotra, Paramjit Singh Ghawaddi and others.
