LUDHIANA, OCTOBER 19:-----
On the second day CSIRO-AusAID workshop on water balance studies in
agroforestry at PAU, the experts shared with participants different
evapotranspiration (ET) measurement techniques. Giving details, the
workshop organizer and Head of the Department of Forestry and Natural
Resources, Dr. Avtar Singh said that experts were of the opinion that
empirical methods can estimate ET of different cropping systems that
is influenced by climate, soil and plant species. Some instruments
like porometer, sapflow sensors, ventilation chambers, etc. can
directly measure ET. The participants were provided theoretical
background of these techniques and will be provided exposure to their
practical users under field conditions through practical exercises,
