Few know that WWE wrestler The Great Khali has a street and an ATM machine named after him in the outskirts of Delhi and Haryana respectively. And on August 13, last year, The Great Khali Day was celebrated in a state in Mexico. "It's an honour for me," he says. "It's humbling when someone shows so much adulation towards you. I didn't know I had so many followers of WWE in India and Mexico. My family and my wife feel really proud of it."
Tonight, Khali, enters the Colors reality show Bigg Boss 4 as the wild card entrant. The House runs on limited ration. The wrestler eats over 20 eggs for breakfast alone. Is he apprehensive that his diet and health will go for a six in the course of the show? "No," he nods, "I am sure I will be able to adjust with the conditions inside the House and the limited food that is provided. It's a competition and only the fittest and the smartest will survive."
Khali has watched the previous seasons and the international versions of the show but only in bits and pieces. "I'm a wrestler and usually have no time to watch TV because I have matches and tours. But having seen the show once in a while, I've some idea of what happens inside the House. Honestly, I've no plans to win. Yet, I know I'll be the winner," he smiles.
And whom would he miss the most when he's away? "My family and my wife," says Khali. "They are the ones who care for me, and will miss me too… But only till the time they don't switch on their TV sets. I'll be in front of them for an hour everyday, so, they'll know what I'm up to. And probably, they'll have nothing to worry."
Since every contestant has to do at least one household chore, what would he like to help with? "Health training if that's option," Khali laughs. "Else, I can cook and clean the house with some guidance and help. My wife has given me a few recipes. I may use them if I remember them."
