LUDHIANA, OCTOBER 19:-----
The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has its roots in College of
Agriculture at Layallpur (now Faislabad) in Pakistan. This was stated
by Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU during his interaction
with Rai Aziz Ullah Khan, the former Member Parliament (MNA) and
Chairman Standing Committee Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs,
Pakistan, who visited the University, today. Dr. Kang said that the
agrarian problems in East and West Punjabs can be addressed better
through joint efforts. He said that there is 99.5% similarity in DNA
of humans on this globe. For regional prosperity, peace and joint
efforts in agricultural education, research and technology transfer
can be helpful, he said.
Mr. Khan remarked that the bonds between people of both the Punjabs
are quite strong even six decades after partition. He said that PAU
has contributed greatly toward ushering in green revolution that made
India self sufficient in foodgrains. He appreciated the affection and
regards he received from Punjabis every time he visited Punjab. He
shared that his forefathers belonged to Raikot, near Ludhiana. Mr.
Khan wished all Punjabis a bright future.
Those who interacted with Mr. Khan included the PAU Registrar, Dr.
R.K.Mahey and Additional Director of Communication, Dr. Jagtar Singh
Dhiman. Mr. Harvinder Singh Toronto also accompanied Mr. Khan. Dr.
Kang presented Mr. Khan with a set of information about PAU.
