LUHDIANA, OCTOBER 19:----
A one day workshop on \"Developing Reading Readiness among young
children,\" was organized by the Department of Human Development,
College of Home Science, Punjab Agricultural University. The resource
person, Ms. Poonam Vig, Early Childhood Education Specialist, stressed
upon how pre-reading skills can be inculcated in a creative and
innovative manner through games, puzzles, joyful activities, etc.
Addressing the parents of the children attending Laboratory Day Care
Centre and Laboratory Nursery School, being run by the Department,
Ms. Vig emphasized that young children should be motivated to read
books of their interest in order to develop good reading habits. The
role of parents in developing reading readiness in children was well
elaborated by the resource person. The parents appreciated the
efforts made by the Department in organizing this workshop.
Dr. Neelam Grewal, Dean, College of Home Science, PAU was the guest of
honour. Earlier, Dr. (Mrs.) S. Thind ,Head, Department of Human
Development welcomed the resource person and other guests.
