LUDHIANA, OCTOBER 19:-----
Agriculture has become greatly knowledge intensive. The farm
scientists are developing need-based technologies to make farming
better through efficient crop cultivation, protection, post harvest
handling operations. The new information is regularly disseminated to
farmers through farm literature. These views were expressed by the
Additional Director of Communication, Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman while
addressing the participants of young farmer training course at Kairon
Kisan Ghar, today. The PAU brings out farm magazines, Changi Kheti
and Progressive Farming in addition to Package of Practices for Rabi
and Kharif crops, vegetable crops, fruit crops. Several bulletins on
different crops, occupations relevant to farming, subsidiary ventures
such as bee keeping, mushroom growing, etc. are also published by PAU.
The Agricultural Handbook and Crop Calendar provide useful and handy
information to farmers, said Dr. Dhiman. He suggested the trainees to
subscribe for these publications and to endeavour creating their own
home libraries. He said that PAU farm literature is sold out to
farmers at \'No Profit No Loss\' through various outlets at PAU,
Ludhiana, KVKs and Regional Stations of the University. Dr. Dhiman
responded to specific queries of the participants. The Course
Coordinator, Dr. T.S.Riar said that the participants are provided
copies of PAU farm literature so that they can take the agricultural
wisdom with them back home.
