Company to pay up Rs 17K

LUDHIANA : The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum directed Balwant Sales Company Limited to pay Rs 15,000 as compensation and Rs 2,000 as litigation costs to a resident for failing to register the truck it sold to him.

A resident of Waryam Nagar, Bhagwan Singh, had filed a complaint alleging that he had purchased one SFC 407 truck from the company for Rs 4,50,000. He paid Rs 1,25,000 and financed the balance amount of Rs 3,25,000 from APJ Finance Group Limited, Feroze Gandhi Market, Ludhiana. The vehicle was delivered to him on September 6, 2006, but it was not a new vehicle as represented. It had already run 70,000 km. A temporary registration number was provided to him, with promise to provide original permanent registration certificate on October 6, with receipt of payment of Rs 9,500 from him.

However, he informed the Forum that the company failed to provide an original permanent registration certificate.
