PAU TO HAVE CYCLING CLUB

Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU said that a large number of vehicles plying on roads lead to congestion of traffic and pollution. This is a matter of concern for all who care for their health and environment. There are many Universities and institutes where use of bi-cycles is being promoted within the country and abroad, he said. The issue of traffic hazards and the health benefits of using bi-cycles was being discussed in the gathering wherein besides Dr. Kang, Additional Director of Communication, Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman, former Additional Director of Research, Dr. G.S.Hira, a Fulbright scholar from USA, Ms Heidi J. Exline and Deputy Director, Department of Economics and Sociology, Dr. K.Vatta were present. It emerged that the University will have a Cycling Club for using bi-cycles on the campus. One-day in a week will be decided to use bi-cycles instead of other vehicles. A Committee to decide about the modalities will be constituted to work out the details for the operation of the Club. Dr. Dhiman said that there was a huge enthusiasm among the faculty and staff to have a Cycling Club on the campus
