PAU ORGANISES NEED-BASED TRAININGS FOR TRAINERS,FARMERS AND FARM WOMEN

Punjab Agricultural University holds training programmes for farmers and farm women depending upon their needs from time to time. The trainings and refresher courses are also organized for the trainers in state development departments and field functionaries of PAU. This was stated by the Director of Extension Education, Dr. M.S.Gill adding that the Directorate of Extension Education will be organizing a training programme for Agricultural Officers/Agricultural Development Officers on technical constraints hindering the harvest of optimum yields from Rabi crops. He said that the experts will discuss crops husbandry, importance of pulse crops, maize, sunflower together with marketing tips. The scientific growing techniques, improved varieties, health care and harvesting, etc. will also be discussed. The Technical Coordinator is Dr. Sarjit Singh.



Another training course will be on precision technologies in horticulture for Horticulture Development Officers/scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, etc. The subject-matter of the programme will include an overview of precision agriculture, land leveling equipments, planting equipments, handling and care of nozzles and sprayers, micro-irrigation methods for horticultural crops, protected cultivation under green houses and low tunnels, fertigation, etc.





A training to educate consumers/buyers from the market against possible frauds at the hands of dealers will be organized on August 24-25 wherein the participants will be provided tips about quality standards and necessary guidelines in the case of their facing fraudulent dealings. The Course Coordinator will be Mrs. Rupinder Kaur and Technical Coordinators Dr. (Mrs.) Surinderjit Kaur and Dr. (Mrs.) H.K.Saggu.
