Kanker, Chhattisgarh: Five security personnel, including three BSF jawans, were killed and another injured when Naxalites ambushed them in Chhattisgarh\'s Kanker district on Sunday morning, police said.
A joint team of BSF and district police was attacked by the rebels in Bhuski village under Durg Kondal police station in the district while they were conducting routine search operations in the wee hours, Superintendent of Police, Kanker, Ajay Yadav told PTI here.
Sources have told NDTV that three Naxals were also killed in the gunfight.
Following the attack, the forces retaliated and in the action they lost five security personnel, including three BSF jawans. One jawan was injured, he said.
Extra forces have been sent to the spot, Yadav said.
This is the first time that BSF jawans have fallen victims to a Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh.
