MUMBAI: Former beauty queen and model Viveka Babajee, who is alleged to have taken her life last week, reportedly poured her heart out about her problems to stockbroker Gautam Vora during their last meeting on Thursday evening.
This is what Vora has said in his police statement, which the cops began recording on Monday and continued on Tuesday. The police are probing whether abetment to suicide charges can be filed against Vora.
Legal experts have said that a note in Babajee\'s diary — 'Gautam you killed me\' — is not enough to make abetment charges stick.
Vora has told police that Babajee complained about business problems and about her ex-boyfriend Kartik Jobanputra. In his statement to the Khar police, Vora also gave details about their relationship.
On Tuesday, Vora told police that he met Babajee at a party and they became close friends. He told the police that he visited Babajee\'s flat on Thursday after she called him and they had a drink and a long chat. Vora told police that she was upset and depressed and stated that Jobanputra was snatching her assignments. In an earlier interview to TOI, Jobanputra has denied this allegation.
In his statement, Vora said Babajee requested that he not leave her alone as she needed his company, but he left.
Zonal deputy commissioner of police, K M M Prasanna, said, \"We recorded Vora\'s statement and, after recording the statement of Babajee\'s family members, we will call him for detailed questioning again.\"
The police have prepared a list of Babajee\'s close contacts. \"We will call Kartik and other concerned persons for questioning at a later stage,\" said a police official.
