SHEIKHUPURA: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan on Monday announced a Rs 15.6 million grant for the Punjab Bar Council (PBC), Daily Times has learnt.

Of the total grant, Rs 10.25 million were announced for the PBC, Rs 1 million for the PBC's hostel, Rs 1.5 million for its employees, Rs 0.5 million for the PBC Secretary Akbar Bhatti, Rs 50,000 for Khawaja Jahangir for reciting the holy Quran at the beginning of the ceremony and Rs 50,000 for Malik Shahid for the recitation of the Naat.

Exploitation: Addressing a gathering at a local function, the minister said the exploitation of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Punjab's provincial ministers, members of provincial assembly (MPAs), office-bearers and workers will not be tolerated in Punjab.

"Discriminatory attitude against the party's ministers and officials in the province needs to be put to an end immediately," he said.

"We are giving due respect to the opposition in the Centre but the Punjab government has been playing a blame-game instead of resolving the problems of the poor," the minister said. He claimed that the PPP would clean-sweep the next general elections all over the country. app/staff report
