Will Imran-Sonam finally deliver a hit

Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor look like a hot, fresh pair in the promos of their first film together, director Punit D Malhotra\'s I Hate Luv Storys. The film releases July 2, 2010, and will be the deciding Friday for the two actors. Both Imran and Sonam badly need a hit.

While Imran\'s debut film, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) was a hit, his presence alone did not make it so. The film\'s supporting actors contributed equally to its success. And, of course, the fact that it was backed by Imran\'s Mamu Jaan (actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan) only added to it. No need to mention that Aamir\'s film marketing skills are par excellence, which helped the film immensely. So much so that it completely overpowered Harman Baweja\'s Love Story 2050, in theatres on the same day.

Imran\'s second film, Kidnap (2008), was not appreciated much since the public had his chocolate boy image too fresh in the mind after Jaane Tu…. Ditto his third outing, Luck (2009), where he performed decently but to his misfortune, it went unnoticed.

So, Imran really needs a hit with I Hate Luv Storys.

Sonam\'s debut film Saawariya was a disaster. It starred Ranbir Kapoor opposite her, who has slowly but surely established himself in the top league of gen-next actors in Bollywood with films such as Bachna Ae Haseeno, Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

Meanwhile, Sonam has had just one more release post debut – Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra\'s Delhi-6. Unfortunately, the much-hyped film was liked by audiences but did not do well at the box office as far as bringing in the masses was concerned. Sonam\'s role though caught attention and was generally liked by critics who panned the film.

Now, Sonam\'s first release in 2010, I Hate Luv Storys, will decide her place in the hearts of viewers.

The fate of the I Hate Luv Storys will pave the way for Imran and Sonam\'s future films. Imran\'s forthcoming films include Abhinay Deo\'s Delhi Belly (produced by Aamir Khan), and Danish Aslam\'s Break Ke Baad with Deepika Padukone (produced by Kunal Kohli).

Sonam\'s future films include 2010\'s Aisha (starring Abhay Deol and Cyrus Sahukar); Pankaj Kapur\'s directorial Mausam (2011), Anees Bazmee\'s rom-com Thank You (2011) starring Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Celina Jaitley and Irrfan Khan, and another film the details of which are not out yet.

Will Imran and Sonam be able to do together what they couldn\'t achieve individually? Will they work as a romantic pair? Share your opinion in the comments box below this story.
