SAD-BJP govt surviving on centre’s oxygen

LDUHIANA, May 29: The Ludhiana MP and the national spokesperson of the All India Congress Committee Manish Tewari today said, the Akali-BJP government in the state was surviving on the oxygen supplied for the centre. Otherwise this government can collapse anytime, he remarked, while addressing a series of public meetings in different villages in the Gill assembly segment.

Tewari pointed out, the state government has not a single penny with itself to launch any of its own development projects. All the development works being carried out in the state were being financed by various centrally sponsored schemes, he said, while adding, this government had not even made any effort to generate or mobilize its own resources.

Criticising the state government for its all round failure, the MP pointed out, the power situation was worst ever. He said, during last two days people in Ludhiana and surrounding areas have been surviving this summer's heat without electricity. "I want to ask the Deputy Chief Minister and the SAD president Mr Sukhbir Badal as what happened to his promises of making Punjab surplus within three years of taking over the government (in 2007)", he said, while asserting that the Akali-BJP regime was writing its own obituary and the countdown for its demise had already begun.

Tewari also distributed grants from his MP's local area development fund in different villages. He was accompanied among others by former minister Malkit Singh Dakha and party leaders Manjit Singh Hambran and Pawan Dewan.
