PR-PAU STUDENTS TO WORK WITH FARMING COMMUNITIES IN THE VILLAGES-MAY 31

Students of final year B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons.) programme at PAU will visit three selected villages namely Sarabha, Aboowal and Rattowal of Pakhowal block of Ludhiana district from June 6-14 to gather information about the farming through interacting with farmers. The students groups will visit these villages in three teams each comprising of two teachers of Department of Extension Education. The Head of the Department of Extension Education, Dr. B.S.Dhillon said that the training will provide them with first hand learning experience to undertake various activities performed by field extension workers. They will also learn to be good communicators with farmers and field workers, said Dr. Dhillon. The students will get an opportunity to studying the agricultural and rural development problems, planning and designing of field lay out, collection and dispatch of water and soil samples and other farm operations. The interaction with farming community will provide the students to learn about the prevalent social evils and the need to address them. The programme, which is part of the curriculum, will come to an end on June 14.
