Man, NRI brothers get father killed for property

Jalandhar: The Punjab police have booked three brothers, including two non-resident Indians, for hiring hitmen to kill their father in Punjab's Jalandhar district last month.

Master Karnail Singh, a schoolteacher in Punjab's Jalandhar, was killed on May 16 by two men allegedly hired by his sons – Rajwinder, Amandeep and Sumandeep. While Rajwinder has been arrested, a case of murder conspiracy has been registered against Amandeep and Sumandeep who live in Germany.

Police say Rajwinder, Amandeep and Sumandeep have plotted the murder as they were worried Karnail Singh would re-marry after their mother's death and they would lose their property.

"During the investigations, we got to know that they (the sons) asked Karnail not to re-marry as he already had nine daughters-in-law. But he apparently did not agree," said Jalandhar SHO, VK Sharma.

Rajwinder apparently had an argument Karnail over the issue

The two hitmen, Tejinder Singh and Karanbir Singh, reportedly followed Karnail for a few days before finally gunning him down.

Punjab Police are now seeking the extradition of Sumandeep and Amandeep.
